Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle) - hybrid version of the crossover Mitsubishi Outlander third generation. Introduced in September 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. In the summer of 2015 appeared restyled a variant with a redesigned front end, new lighting, improved sound insulation, as well as reconfigured suspension and steering.
The Outlander PHEV is equipped with an installation capable of operating in both serial and parallel modes. Unlike other hybrids, most of the time the car is powered by 82 hp electric motors. each, which are located on the front and rear axles, and are powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 12 kWh. In EV Drive Mode, the crossover can travel about 50 km. When more power is needed or the traction battery is low, the Series Hybrid mode is activated, when the internal combustion engine - a 2.0-liter gasoline "four" (121 hp, 190 Nm) - works as a generator. Finally, when driving at high speed for a long time, the Parallel Hybrid mode is activated. The internal combustion engine in this case is connected to the front wheels through a single-stage gearbox and provides most of the “traction”, and the electric motors are activated as needed.
The electronics automatically switch modes, but the driver can force the setting to be a priority for driving on electricity using the EV button. If the battery runs out or the car needs more power, for example, for a sharp acceleration, the automation itself will start the gasoline unit.
The suspension of the hybrid "Outlander" is structurally the same as that of the usual one - McPherson in front and a multi-link in the back. But the clearance is reduced by 25 mm (up to 190 mm).
The traction lithium-ion battery is located under the crossover floor between the front and rear axles. It is charged when the internal combustion engine is running and during braking due to energy recovery. In addition, the battery can be charged from the mains: in 6.5 hours from a device with a capacity of 8 A and in 5 hours from a 10-amp device. At "fast" charging stations such as CHAdeMO, batteries are charged up to 80% in 25 minutes. According to the manufacturer, fuel consumption in a combined hybrid cycle is about 1.7 l / 100 km, but as the experience of the owners of such cars shows, in the absence of the ability to charge the battery, consumption on the highway varies between 7.5 - 10 l / 100 km (depending on driving style). ), and charged in urban mode - 3-5 l / 100 km.
In 2018, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has undergone a technical upgrade. The two-liter aspirated engine was replaced by a 2.4 engine operating on the Atkinson economical cycle. Its power is 135 hp and peak torque is 211 Nm. The power of the generator docked to the gasoline engine has been increased by 10% to 66 kW (90 hp). The front 82-horsepower electric motor is the same, and the rear power has been increased from 82 to 95 hp. In addition, the capacity of the lithium-ion traction battery has increased from 12 to 13.8 kWh. As a result, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV became more dynamic and received an increased mileage on a single charge - about 45 km.
Another “feature” of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system, which combines an active stability control system with all-wheel drive on two electric motors, an anti-lock braking system and a dynamic stabilization system (controls the thrust vector, metering the distribution of torque between motors on the axles and braking the necessary wheels). When driving on slippery surfaces in the crossover, you can turn on the simulated center differential lock.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is produced in Japan.
