Before Mitsubishi Outlande r has already experienced restyling, but not so radical - his sad face has not changed, which many customers were dissatisfied with. And they either went to competitors, or remained potential. Like it or not, but from the third Mitsubishi Outlander  many previously loyal customers turned away. After an aggressive second-generation crossover with a "face" from the Mitsubishi Evolutioun X sports sedan, which was called the "jet-fighter grill", the new car seemed to have aged a dozen years. Now we have a clearly rejuvenated model with a face in the new “Dynamic Shield” style, symbolizing dynamics and protection.

The new front protrudes more forward, which is why the length of the crossover has grown by 40 mm (up to 4695 mm), but it is more beveled, so the entry angle has become better and is 21 degrees (against 19.7 before), and the exit angle has increased to 20.8 degrees . The declared ground clearance has also grown to 215 mm, but otherwise the dimensions have not changed much: the wheelbase is 2670 mm, the width is 1810 mm and the height is 1680 mm.

I'm not a fan of chrome, which the new "alien" has more than ever, although it really suits him - Mitsubishi Outlander  became much prettier and more fun. True, the appearance depends on the configuration and, of course, only the expensive Intense and Ultimate versions were at the presentation - with a new wheel design 225/55 R18, LED low beam, sunroof, roof rails. The base car in the Inform configuration is deprived of all this and even fog lights. However, that's why it's basic. 

There are more changes inside and the first thing that meets you is a new chair. Outwardly, it does not differ much from the previous one, but they say that the lateral support has become 40% better (it was not possible to compare), a new three-dimensional pattern and additional stitching, including on the dashboard visor. In the hands of a new steering wheel, a ceiling-mounted compartment for glasses above your head, and in better trim levels a mirror with auto-dimming appeared. Other decorative inserts appeared, and the upholstery of the ceiling became better. The top version of the Ultimate now has a beige interior.

Thoroughly worked on noise and vibration isolation. The side and rear windows became 0.4 mm thicker (up to 3.5 mm), the design of the seals was changed and noise and vibration insulating plates were added where they were not there before (door pillars, rear arches, mirrors, windshield pillars, trunk ), the damping characteristics of the engine mounts have been changed, a dynamic damper has been added to the rear subframe. In general, work was carried out on 27 points. Even the sound of the slamming door became more solid. 

They didn't say anything about the engines at the presentation because they haven't changed. As before, under the hood is a petrol 2.0 (146 hp, 196 Nm) or 2.4 (167 hp, 222 Nm). The base Outlander can be front-wheel drive, saving 0.3L/100km on the combined cycle and hitting 100km/h in 11.1s, or 0.6s faster than its all-wheel-drive counterpart. The more powerful Outlander 2.4 is faster (10.2 s) and slightly more gluttonous (7.7 l/100 km). Talk about the supply of diesel models is still reduced to the unimportant quality of our diesel fuel. 

It is interesting that the pre-styling crossover with the same 2.4 petrol engine consumed 0.2 l / 100 km more (and in the city and for all 0.8 l - as much as 10.6 l / 100 km), and accelerated by 0.3 s slower (for 10.5 s). Why? The fact is that with the update, Outlander received a new Jatco continuously variable transmission of the eighth generation. It has reduced transmission losses by 26%, changed the design of the lubrication system and increased the power range to 2.63-0.38 (was 2.35-0.39). In addition, the control program has been changed, thanks to which the V-belt variator has become more responsive: the reactions to the fuel supply have become sharper, and the overall feeling is now comparable to a conventional “automatic”. True, if you press the gas pedal to the floor on a flat stretch of road, the tachometer needle, as usual for the variator, will hang in the region of maximum power (about 6000 rpm), accelerating the one and a half ton car with all its might. Long so hard to go even despite the good soundproofing.

You should not worry about safety, Mitsubishi Outlander is among the excellent students in the EuroNCAP system and even in the basic version it has a gentleman's set of electronic assistants (a course stability system, assistance with lifting and emergency braking, traction control). True, the basic version of Inform only offers two front airbags, and to get side, curtain for both rows and a knee for the driver, you need to climb up a notch to the Invite version.
