Mitsubishi Outlander - the third generation of the model, the world premiere of which took place at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012. Compared to its predecessor, which was called Outlander XL, the novelty has significantly improved the coefficient of air resistance (0.33 versus 0.36) and geometric cross-country ability - the angles of entry / exit are increased.
The Ukrainian and Russian markets are a priority for the company, so Ukraine became one of the first countries where sales of the new Outlander began. Upgraded engines with a volume of 2 (145 hp) and 2.5 liters (167 hp) with a proprietary gas distribution system MIVEC, which helps save fuel, have learned to consume not only the 95th, but also the 92nd gasoline. Thanks to the overall reduction in the weight of the model by about 100 kg, as well as the reconfiguration of the gearbox, the appetites of the power plants have also slightly diminished.
Transmission - so far only a variator. "Mechanics", according to preliminary information, will appear during 2013.
Better steel and insulation, and finishing materials, and ergonomics. The front panel is now made of soft plastic, and the center console is now directed towards the driver.
In addition, the crossover received a new all-wheel drive system, which by default operates in 4WD Auto Eco mode, in which during acceleration and on slippery surfaces up to 10% of the torque is transferred to the rear axle, although in general the car remains front-wheel drive. In the 4WD Auto mode without the Eco prefix, the torque is electronically transferred to the rear axle in a much larger range, and in the 4WD Lock mode, the traction between the front and rear wheels is distributed in a ratio of 50:50.
Mitsubishi Outlander does not have differential locks or their electronic imitation. Nevertheless, the third generation of the model has acquired a new variator algorithm, which simulates a downshift - the gearbox constantly selects gear ratios that provide maximum traction. Among other things, the number of sensors has increased in all-wheel drive versions, which now take into account not only the slip of the front wheels, but also engine speed, information about longitudinal and lateral acceleration. This, in turn, makes it possible not only to connect the rear axle much faster, but also to transmit exactly the traction that best suits the conditions.
The most affordable version of the Outlander is a front-wheel drive modification, which is offered as standard and is equipped exclusively with a 2-liter unit. For all-wheel drive versions, in addition to the 145-horsepower engine, you can also choose a 2.5-liter engine with 167 hp. Ground clearance Mitsubishi Otlander is 215 mm. The model is supplied to the Ukrainian market from Japan.
